Mumbai Horror: Brothers Arrested for Repeatedly Raping and Impregnating 13-Year-Old Cousin

Mumbai, 2nd January 2024: In Mumbai, the Parksite police have apprehended two brothers, aged 22 and 18, for allegedly repeatedly raping and impregnating their 13-year-old cousin. The victim resides with her parents in a Vikhroli society, and the cousins, also from Vikhroli, would often visit the house. The parents, believing in a familial bond, were comfortable with the cousins’ presence in their absence.

The heinous acts came to light on December 31 when the girl’s mother noticed her enlarged stomach. Upon questioning, the girl remained silent, prompting the mother to take her to the hospital. Medical examinations revealed that the girl was 23 weeks pregnant. The police filed an FIR against the two accused based on the statements of the girl and her parents.

According to the victim’s statement, the 18-year-old cousin raped her in May, and the 22-year-old began assaulting her in August. The perpetrators would show explicit content before committing the crimes. The second accused repeatedly raped the girl, while the first sexually molested her multiple times.

Both suspects have been arrested, with the 22-year-old in police custody and the 18-year-old in judicial custody. They face charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including rape, gang rape on a minor, assault, sexual harassment, and criminal intimidation. Additionally, charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act include penetrative sexual assault, aggravated penetrative sexual assault, displaying explicit content to a child, and sexual harassment. The girl’s medical report will serve as evidence in the upcoming legal proceedings.
