Mumbai: Major Water Channel Repair in Dadar West, Water Supply to be Temporarily Cut Off

Mumbai, 26th May 2023: The repair work of the 1,450 mm diameter Tansa water channel in Dadar West area will be undertaken from Saturday, May 27, 2023, at 8 am, to Sunday, May 28, 2023, at 10 am. As a result, there will be no water supply in the G South and G North areas during this 26-hour period.

The water engineering department will carry out the leak repair work on the existing Tansa East and West main water channel, which has a diameter of 1,450 mm, at the junction of Senapati Bapat Marg and Kakasaheb Gadgil Marg in Dadar (West). The work will commence on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at 8 am, and is scheduled to be completed by Sunday, May 28, 2023, at 10 am. To identify the internal leakage, the entire water channel needs to be shut down. Once the exact leak is located, the repair will be carried out by replacing the damaged section. The water engineering department has already started the preliminary work to locate the leak.

During the repair period, the following areas will experience a water supply cut-off:

G North Division: Entire Mahim West, Matunga West, Dadar West Division, Senapati Bapat Marg, Veer Savarkar Marg, Gokhale Road, Kakasaheb Gadgil Marg, L.J. Marg, Sayani Marg, Bhavani Shankar Marg, Mori Marg, Sena Bhavan Premises, and T.H. Kataria Marg, Cloth Bazaar will not have water supply from 4 PM to 10 PM on May 27.

G South Division: Dilai Road BDD, Entire Prabhadevi area, Janata Vasahat, Entire Lower Parel Division, Pandurang Budhkar Marg, Senapati Bapat Marg, Ganpatrao Kadam Marg, NM Joshi Marg, Veer Savarkar Marg, and S.S. Amritwar area will not have water supply from 2:30 pm to 7 pm on May 27.

G South Division: NM Joshi Marg, Dilai Road BDD, Sakharam Bala Pawar Marg, Mahadev Palav Marg, Dhobi Ghat, and Satarasta area will not have water supply from 4 am to 8 am on May 28.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation administration has requested the citizens in the affected areas to cooperate by conserving water during the repair period of the water channel.
