Mumbai: Model Alleges Rape and Forced Conversion, Case Registered; Accused Denies Allegations

Mumbai, 1st June 2023: A shocking incident of rape, involving luring through marriage, has emerged in Mumbai. The victim, a model, has also claimed that she was coerced into converting her religion. A case has been registered by the police based on the complaint filed by the victim. NDTV has reported on the matter.

The accused in this case is identified as Tanveer Akhtar Lekh Khan (40), who is currently not arrested. The 23-year-old victim, who works as a model, had been associated with Tanveer’s modeling agency since 2020. Initially, Tanveer concealed his true identity, but after four months, the victim discovered his real name. They were in a relationship for a certain period of time.

According to the victim’s statement, the accused took her to Ranchi, where he allegedly raped her by promising marriage. She also alleged that she was pressured into converting to Islam. Furthermore, the victim claimed that the accused had attempted to harm her while they were in Mumbai. The Versova police have filed an FIR under the Indian Penal Code for rape and related offenses. As the rape incident occurred in Ranchi, the case has been transferred to the local authorities there.

In response to the allegations, Tanveer Khan has released a video denying all charges leveled against him. He also alleged that the victim had shared explicit photos of herself with her friends and family, insinuating that she intended to steal some data.
