Mumbai: One Crore Passengers Travel In Air-Conditioned Local Trains Of Western Railway; Passenger Response Increased In Seven Months

Mumbai, 28th October 2022: Passenger response to air-conditioned local trains on Western Railway is increasing and since April 2022, 1 crore passengers have traveled in this local train. Western Railway informed that there has been an increase of 85 percent in the number of passengers this year compared to 2019-20.

 

The first air-conditioned local on the Western Railway came in December 2017. Due to low response, the ticket price was reduced. After that, the response of passengers increased. There are 48 air-conditioned local trains daily on Western Railway.

 

Due to increasing passenger response, 31 more air-conditioned local trains started running in place of normal local trains from October 1. Therefore, the total number of air-conditioned local trains has increased to 79. After that, September saw the highest daily ticket sales of 15,789. Now, more than 19 thousand tickets are being sold. The first air-conditioned local with motorcoach equipment installed in local coaches to increase passenger carrying capacity will soon enter service for Western Railway passengers.

 

There will be about ten rounds of this local too. Therefore, the number of air-conditioned local trains will further increase. Meanwhile, the railway administration stated that a total of 72 lakh 32 thousand passengers traveled on the Central Railway route from April to October 2022.
