Mumbai, 4th February 2024: A 37-year-old man, identified as Shehzada, also known as Ramzan Sheikh, has been apprehended by the Mumbai police in connection with the brutal killing of a 40-year-old homeless woman, Sapna Satish Batham. The partially decomposed body of the victim was discovered on the roadside in Sewri on January 22, triggering a comprehensive investigation by the authorities.

The police, utilizing CCTV footage and missing persons’ reports, successfully identified the victim during their inquiry. In one of the CCTV recordings, a couple arriving at the location on a scooter was identified. By tracing the license plate number of the vehicle, the police identified Shehzada as the accused. Shehzada is employed as a contractual worker at Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL).

Further investigations revealed that the victim, who was residing in Mumbai Central, was acquainted with Shehzada. On January 14, Shehzada allegedly enticed her with the promise of alcohol and took her to Sewree.
