Mumbai Police Detain Individual for Threatening Salman Khan’s Life
Mumbai, 31st October 2024: In a rapid response to a recent threat, Mumbai Police have arrested a man for allegedly issuing death threats against actor Salman Khan. The control room of the Mumbai Traffic Police received an anonymous message demanding ₹2 crore as ransom while threatening the actor’s life. This led to the filing of a case and the subsequent arrest of Azam Mohammad Mustafa, a resident of Bandra East, on Wednesday.
Earlier this week, a 20-year-old tattoo artist from Noida, Gufran Khan, was arrested for making similar threats against Salman Khan and Bandra East MLA Zeeshan Siddique. Siddique is the son of the late Baba Siddique, a former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader, who was shot dead in Bandra on October 12. Baba Siddique had a close relationship with Salman Khan and was instrumental in mending the actor’s long-standing feud with Shah Rukh Khan in 2013.
The tattoo artist confessed to planning another ransom demand but was apprehended before he could act on it.
The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has previously claimed responsibility for the shooting outside Salman Khan’s home in April and also took credit for Baba Siddique’s murder in a Facebook post. The post, attributed to an individual named Shubuu Lonkar, linked Siddique’s death to his associations with India’s most wanted criminal, Dawood Ibrahim, his relationship with Salman Khan, and the death of Anuj Thapan, one of the suspects involved in the earlier shooting.
In the post, Lonkar warned, “We do not have any enmity with anyone, but those who assist Salman Khan and the Dawood gang should keep their accounts in order (‘hisaab-kitaab kar lena’).”
Reasons Behind Targeting Salman Khan
The Bishnoi gang, which gained infamy after claiming responsibility for the murder of musician Sidhu Moose Wala in 2022, has expressed a desire to kill Salman Khan due to his alleged involvement in the shooting of Blackbucks in Mathania, near Jodhpur, during the filming of “Hum Saath Saath Hain” in September 1998. This incident incited anger within the Bishnoi community, which holds blackbucks as sacred.
During a court hearing in 2018, Lawrence Bishnoi declared, “We will kill Salman Khan in Jodhpur. Everyone will know once we take action. I have not done anything as of now; they are accusing me of crimes for no reason.”
