Mumbai, 14th November 2023: As the anticipation builds for the first semi-final clash between India and New Zealand in the ICC ODI Cricket World Cup 2023 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on November 15, Mumbai Police have issued crucial guidelines to ensure security and order during the high-profile match. With the Indian team’s stellar performance, cricket enthusiasts from Mumbai and neighbouring cities are expected to flood the stadium, prompting the police to outline key instructions for a smooth and secure experience.

Deputy Commissioner of Mumbai Police (Circle 1) Dr Praveen Mundhe stated, “Mumbai Police Force is ready at Wankhede Stadium for India vs New Zealand Semi Final match on November 15, 2023.” Emphasizing security measures, he noted a delay in allowing spectators entry due to security protocols, urging fans to arrive by 11:30 am to avoid delays. Although the match begins at 2:00 pm, entry will commence at half past eleven.

To maintain safety standards, spectators are prohibited from bringing items such as bags, power bags, coins, pencils, pens, blank paper, markers, banners, objectionable items, inflammable items, stick boxes, lighters, cigarettes, and gutkha into the stadium. Notably, there is no provision for storage of these items within the stadium premises.

In terms of transportation, the police recommend using public transport over private vehicles, as parking facilities are unavailable in the stadium area. Attendees arriving by local trains are advised to alight at Churchgate station for convenient access to Gate No. 1, 2, and 7, while those aiming for Gate No. 3, 4, and 5 should alight at Marine Lines station.

The police stressed the importance of adhering to these guidelines, citing security reasons, and appealed to the public for cooperation to ensure a safe and enjoyable cricketing experience.
