Mumbai Starts Tuesday with Cool, Crisp Weather as IMD Records 15.2°C

Mumbai, 7th January 2025: Mumbai woke up to a cool and crisp Tuesday morning, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) recording a minimum temperature of 15.2°C at Santacruz, which is 1.8°C below the usual levels for this time of year. In south Mumbai, the minimum temperature was slightly higher at 18.6°C, falling 1°C below normal. The IMD measures temperatures at 5:30 a.m. for minimum and 5:30 p.m. for maximum daily readings.

The temperature drop and chilly winds are attributed to the impact of northerly winds, as explained by Sunil Kamble, head of IMD Mumbai. He emphasized that this is a common winter occurrence and does not constitute a cold wave. Kamble also noted that temperatures are expected to rise in the coming days.

On Monday evening, Santacruz recorded a maximum temperature of 30.3°C, which is 1°C below normal, while Colaba reached 28°C, 2.6°C lower than average. The IMD will release the maximum temperature for Tuesday later in the evening.
