Mumbai: Suspect Was Apprehended By Police For Dubious Bomb Threat Information

Borivali, 19th September 2023: There was a great pandemonium yesterday when the Mumbai Police control room received a call that 20 to 25 people were preparing bombs in the Kasturba Gandhi Marg area of Borivali. However, after the investigation, it was revealed that a caller deliberately gave false information to the police after binge-drinking alcohol. The police arrested a suspect in this case and registered a complaint against him for misleading the public servant and giving false information.

On Monday afternoon, at around 4 p.m., the police control room received a call, informing that 20 to 25 people were making bombs in the labour camp area of Kasturba Gandhi Marg in Borivali and that they were planning a big terrorist attack in Mumbai. After being informed about this by the crime branch, the Bangur Nagar police went to the spot and arrested a suspect. It was found that he had done this under the influence of alcohol.

According to the information, the Mumbai Police has received more than 80 false information or threatening calls in the last five months. Last week, an anonymous call to the ministry’s helpline number 112 came in about a bomb being planted in the ministry building. The caller threatened to explode the Mantralaya building if he was not allowed to speak with the chief minister. After the rigorous inspection of the Mantralaya building, the bomb squad team found no suspicious items in the building premises.

In that case, a suspect was detained by the local police from Pathardi village in Ahmadnagar. Also, a woman from South Mumbai harassed the police by calling 38 times last week. In the wake of Ganeshotsav, when the Mumbai Police was deployed for security in the city, such anonymous and dubious calls increased the pressure on the police systems.
