Mumbai: The Iconic Deccan Odyssey Train Resumes Operation After Three Years; Back On Route With Modified Look

Mumbai, 21st September 2023: The famous Deccan Odyssey train has resumed its operation today, on September 21, after a hiatus of approximately three years. The train, in its brand new avatar, was inaugurated today by the chief minister and two deputy chief ministers of the state.
Deccan Odyssey was first launched in 2005 in association with the Maharashtra State Tourism Development Corporation and Indian Railways. However, the year-long lockdown in March 2020 and subsequent waves of the Corona pandemic halted its operation for an indefinite period.
Consequently, the train was standing at the Wadibandar and Dadar Railway Stations. However, over the past few months, many people have demanded the resumption of the train service, considering the normalcy of the passenger numbers and its up-to-date facilities. Accordingly, the state tourism department and Indian Railways made many innovative changes to the interior and exterior of this train, and today the train completed its inaugural run between CSMT and Thane station.
The inauguration of this train took place today at 1:30 PM by the chief minister of the state, Eknath Shinde. At that time, deputy chief ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, as well as State Legislative Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar, were also present for the inauguration ceremony.
In its latest look, the Deccan Odyssey train has 21 coaches. Additionally, the facilities of luxurious interiors, a royal restaurant, a spa, and lounge facilities have also been provided in this train.
