Mumbai: Tree Collapse And Electric Pole Damage Cause Chaos And Power Outages In Dombivli
Dombivli, 9th July 2023: On Saturday morning, a standing tree succumbed to the relentless downpour, crashed onto a KDMT bus in the MIDC area of Dombivli. Earlier, on Friday night, an electric pole in Deslepada also fell due to incessant rainfall. Thankfully, no lives were lost in either incident, as there was no one around at the time of the incident.
The incident at the MIDC bus stop happened when a sturdy tree unexpectedly plummeted, blocking the road and causing a significant disturbance. The fallen branches of the tree struck the bus’s tip, resulting in damage to the nearby vehicle. A few branches of the tree collided with the power lines, triggering a series of power outages in the vicinity. The sudden interruption left the area in darkness and brought routine activities to a standstill.
Immediately, local residents called the emergency services. A tree fell on the road, leading to a traffic jam in the area until the fire brigade arrived. Motorists were asked to take alternative routes while evacuation work was going on.
Similarly, another incident happened in the Deslepada area on Friday night when an electric pole fell due to the collision of an unknown vehicle. The force of the collision caused the pole to bend, posing a threat to the safety of citizens. Acting swiftly, employees of Mahavitraan, the local electricity authority, disconnected the power supply to the affected area and ensured the safety of the residents.
