Mumbai: Tribal Communities To Protest In Front Of Collector’s Office For Rights

Mumbai, 5th February 2023: Along with the tribals of Aarey Colony, the tribals of Mumbai will take to the streets for their rights on Monday. Tribals have called for a march to save water, forest and land and to present the problems faced by tribals before the government. According to this, a large number of tribals are going to protest before the collector’s office in Bandra tomorrow at 11 pm.

Agriculture is the main occupation of tribals living in Aarey and other areas of Mumbai. Meanwhile, their farmlands are being taken over for various projects. Aarey Carshed is an example. Efforts are underway to declare their houses as slums and include them in the slum rehabilitation project. At the same time, the tribals are confused as they do not have the necessary certificates or have to go through a lot of effort to get the necessary certificates while taking advantage of the schemes of the government. In the background of all this, tribals have decided to march for their right to justice and their voice in the government.

The march has been warned through Shramik Mukti Andolan and Maharashtra tribal forums. Tomorrow, Monday, at 11:00 PM, the tribals will march on Bandra, Suburban Collectorate.
