Mumbai: Two Arrested For Gang Rape Of Woman, Police Looking For Third Accused

Mumbai, 10th January 2023: The Vile Parle Police have registered a case against three people for the gang rape of a woman in Vile Parle. The complaint said that the woman was allegedly tortured and assaulted in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

The names of the arrested are Lalasaheb Sukhnath Yadav and Shashank Sanjay Sawant. Both are currently in police custody for the crime. Police are looking for their third accomplice, Rajput. The police said a case was registered against these three under sections for gang rape, molestation and threats.

The 49-year-old victim lives with her husband and children in the Vile Parle area. Yadav lives in the Kandivali area and is her close friend. Both have known each other for the past 25 years. Yadav often came to her residence in Vileparle to play cards. On Friday, 6th January, he put her in a car, saying he wanted to go to Ahmedabad for gambling. Two other accused were with him at this time. After moving to Ahmedabad, they all lived in a flat. He had drunk there.

Yadav showed some of her old photographs to the victim after drinking alcohol. He tried to get closer to her by showing her those pictures. After she protested, he threatened to circulate her pictures on social media. He then sexually assaulted her. Two of his other friends then sexually assaulted her and molested her. They all returned to Mumbai on 7th January. She narrated the incident to her husband and later rushed to Vile Parle police station. She reported the incident in Ahmedabad to the police and lodged a complaint against the three accused in a written application. After investigating the complaint, a case was registered against all three accused. As soon as the case was registered, both Lalasaheb Yadav and Shanshak Sawant were arrested by the police.
