Mumbai: Uddhav Thackeray Advocates for Anganwadi Sevikas, Criticizes State Government
Mumbai, 4th January 2024: In a compelling address at Azad Maidan near CSMT, Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray took a firm stand in support of Anganwadi Sevikas while strongly criticizing the Maharashtra State Government’s neglect of their demands. Thackeray expressed disappointment over the government’s alleged focus on acquiring MLAs and running advertisements, juxtaposed with the apparent oversight of the vital work carried out by Anganwadi Sevikas.
During his visit, Thackeray assured the Sevikas that once Shiv Sena assumes power in the state, their demands would be addressed comprehensively. He passionately appealed to citizens not to vote for the BJP in the upcoming 2024 elections, asserting that the Shiv Sena’s commitment to addressing the concerns of Anganwadi Sevikas would be a top priority.
Thackeray underscored the indispensable role played by Anganwadi Sevikas, reaching the depths of society and remote villages. He criticized the government’s lack of financial commitment to compensate these workers, drawing attention to the paradox of showcasing photographs of healthy ministers on banners while malnourished children still exist in the state.
Acknowledging the ongoing strike by Anganwadi Sevikas, Uddhav Thackeray praised the collective strength of their movement, likening it to a torch with the power to challenge the government. He questioned the recent BJP victory in Madhya Pradesh, raising doubts about whether it was truly due to the ‘Laadli Behna’ campaign implemented by Shivraj Singh Chavan, drawing parallels to the Sevikas as the unsung “Behnas.”
Thackeray urged citizens not to vote for the BJP in 2024, emphasizing the Shiv Sena’s commitment to addressing the demands of Anganwadi Sevikas once in power. He highlighted the unity of all parties regarding the Ram Mandir and criticized the Union government for allocating funds to selfie points at railway stations, questioning priorities and suggesting that such funds could have been better utilized to support Anganwadi Sevikas.
