Mumbai: Union Minister Anurag Thakur Launches Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra Vans, Engages Millions in Government Schemes

Mumbai, 11th January 2024: Anurag Singh Thakur, the Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting and Youth Affairs & Sports, inaugurated the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra Vans in Byculla, Mumbai today. Expressing gratitude to the attendees for being part of the Vikasit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, the Minister highlighted the Yatra’s extensive reach, covering every corner of the country and involving more than twelve crore people. Thakur credited the success to the widespread awareness of government schemes facilitated by the Yatra.

“The Yatra is making significant strides, reaching over two lakh Panchayats and four thousand Urban Local Bodies. Its purpose is to connect with vulnerable sections and eligible beneficiaries of government programs, informing them about various welfare schemes,” stated Thakur. He emphasized the presence of stalls for scheme enrollments and the distribution of informative pamphlets and materials about government initiatives.

Thakur underscored the essence of true democracy, where the government reaches out to the people, a principle reflected in the Vikasit Bharat Sankalp Yatra. He highlighted the Yatra’s role in simplifying the enrollment process for government schemes, aligning with the government’s responsibility to inform and create awareness among citizens. Informational booklets and pamphlets showcase various schemes, while calendars portray the proud face of a developing India with landmarks like the new Parliament building, Bharat Mandapam, and Kartavya Path.

Discussing recent government efforts, Thakur praised the digitization of the RNI application system and the online Film Certification process, emphasizing the government’s commitment to efficiency and transparency. He noted India’s significant role in global digital payments, with 40% of such transactions occurring in the country. Thakur reiterated the government’s welfare philosophy, encapsulated in the mantra of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.”

Encouraging the audience to be part of India’s development, Thakur urged them to connect through My Bharat Portal, a platform for volunteering, learning, and experiencing various initiatives. He announced the upcoming inauguration of the National Youth Day by the Prime Minister from Nashik, emphasizing the importance of citizens contributing to the nation’s progress.

Minister of Skills, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Government of Maharashtra, Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Byculla Member of Legislative Assembly, Yamini Jadhav, and Member of Parliament, Ashish Shelar, joined Thakur on this occasion, marking a collaborative effort towards fostering awareness and ensuring the benefits of government initiatives reach every segment of society.
