Mumbai: Veteran Actor Rakesh Bedi Reports Rs 75,000 Scam, Warns Against Army Impersonators

Mumbai, 2nd January 2024: Renowned actor Rakesh Bedi, famed for his comedic roles in popular television shows, recently encountered a phone scam, resulting in an alleged loss of Rs 75,000. The veteran actor, known for his roles in iconic series like ‘Shrimaan Shrimati’ and ‘Yes Boss,’ promptly reported the incident to Mumbai police and issued a cautionary warning to the public about scammers posing as Army personnel.

Bedi shared the details of the incident, revealing that he received a call from an individual claiming to be from the Army, expressing interest in purchasing his Pune flat. Falling prey to the deception, Bedi transferred Rs 75,000 to the scammer’s bank account before realizing the fraudulent nature of the call.

In an interview, Bedi stressed the need for public awareness regarding such scams. He emphasized that these fraudulent calls often occur at night, making it challenging for victims to immediately report the incidents. Despite facing a financial loss, Bedi expressed gratitude that the police identified the scam as an old modus operandi, preventing a more substantial financial setback.

Rakesh Bedi has diligently reported the incident to the Mumbai police, providing them with the scammer’s bank account details, photographs, and transaction specifics. The actor, with a career spanning several decades, highlighted the importance of caution and vigilance in dealing with unsolicited calls, particularly those claiming to be from authoritative entities like the Army.
