Navi Mumbai Builder Charged With Attempted Murder Amid Viral Video of Roadside Attack

Navi Mumbai, 2nd November 2024: In a cross-complaint filed with the police, a Sanpada-based builder faces attempted murder charges, while a group of approximately 20 unidentified men are charged with causing injuries to the builder.

A viral video circulating on social media shows a 4×4 vehicle striking four individuals standing by the roadside. The driver of the vehicle, identified as 28-year-old builder Digvijay Shelke from Sector 1, Sanpada, is currently receiving treatment at Suraj Hospital for multiple injuries.

The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday night in Sector 1. According to the complainant, 36-year-old Kushal Kunder, he and a friend were in his Swift Dzire when a scooter rider collided with the car, damaging its bonnet.

Kunder stated, “The scooter rider seemed intoxicated, and we requested compensation since the entire bonnet would need replacement, despite the minor damage. The rider, a watchman, agreed to pay but called someone, saying his ‘boss’ would handle it. When the person arrived in a 4×4, he shouted and insisted we claim insurance. After we refused, he attempted to run us over, causing minor injuries.”

On the other hand, Shelke reported being attacked by a group, saying, “My watchman called for assistance. Upon arrival, I found men demanding Rs. 10,000 from him after taking his scooter keys. I suggested they claim insurance. The altercation intensified, and some of them climbed onto my vehicle, forcing me to start the car. I stopped shortly after but was then assaulted. During the scuffle, my credit card and phone were stolen, and I sustained injuries.”
