Navi Mumbai Crane Operator Faces Charges After Fatal Construction Accident
Navi Mumbai, 31st May 2024: The Navi Mumbai police have initiated legal proceedings against a 24-year-old crane operator following an incident of alleged negligence resulting in the tragic death of a worker at a housing construction site. Haider Ali Fajleimam Sheikh, operating a crane at Nawde in the Panvel area on May 27, was implicated in the accident.
Reportedly, Sheikh failed to maintain proper communication with victim Manoj Sintu Soran (35), who was positioned on the ground. Due to this lapse, a part of the crane malfunctioned, causing cement blocks to fall onto Soran, leading to his untimely demise.
Following a thorough investigation, authorities on Thursday formally filed a case against Sheikh under section 304(A) of the Indian Penal Code, for causing death by negligence, as confirmed by the station house officer of Taloja police station.
