Navi Mumbai Police Bust Online Prostitution Racket, Rescue 3 Girls After Arresting Couple

Navi Mumbai, 4th April 2023: Navi Mumbai police have arrested a couple who were allegedly involved in trafficking minor girls online for prostitution. Manisha Shinde and Praveen Salunkhe, who identify themselves as husband and wife, were caught by police after they posted pictures and profiles of 16/17-year-old girls on social media to attract customers.

The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) had received information about their activities and formed a team under Senior Police Inspector Atul Aher to investigate. The team contacted the couple through social media, posing as fake customers, and arranged to meet them in the Kalyan Jewelers area of Vashi. When the accused arrived, they were arrested, and three girls were rescued from their clutches.

The couple has been charged under the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. Further investigation revealed that they had committed similar crimes in the past. Senior Police Inspector Atul Aher assured that the investigation would continue.

The police have asked citizens to come forward if they have any information about similar activities in their area.
