Pune: Bhosari Resident Receives 7-Year Hard Labor Sentence for Brutal Attack on Acquaintance

Bhosari, 6th March 2024: The court has sentenced Vikas Jeevan Gunjal, a 26-year-old resident of Bhosari, to seven years of hard labour and a fine of 1 lakh rupees for a brutal attack on a young acquaintance. The incident occurred on February 15, 2020, in Bhosari, when Vikas stabbed the victim in the head with a chopper after the latter refused to drink alcohol.

Anil Gaikwad, the victim, filed a complaint, leading to the arrest of Vikas Gunjal on February 16, 2020. During the trial, a total of seven witnesses were examined.

The court presided over by Judge PP Jadhav, pronounced the sentence, with Assistant Police Inspector Gajanan Bansode serving as the investigating officer. Additional Public Prosecutor Namdev Tarlagatta argued on behalf of the government, and court advocacy officers included Sub-Inspector of Police Balaji Jonapalle and Court Constable JS Pathan.

The sentence includes seven years of hard labour and a 1 lakh rupees fine, with the provision of three months of simple imprisonment in case the fine is not paid.
