Crime

Navi Mumbai, 6th March 2024: In a disturbing incident at the Khandeshwar police station gate on Tuesday night, a woman reportedly assaulted two women police personnel in Navi Mumbai. The altercation arose when the officers attempted to clear the way for an auto-rickshaw transporting an ill person to the hospital.

The sequence of events unfolded when a man from Panvel visited the police station to file a complaint against his live-in partner. Concurrently, his mother, experiencing chest pain, required urgent medical attention. As they boarded an auto-rickshaw to head to the hospital, the 24-year-old partner joined them, obstructing the vehicle’s movement.

In the attempt to pacify and remove her from the auto-rickshaw, two women personnel—a constable and an assistant police inspector—faced resistance. The accused woman reportedly shouted at the officers, physically grabbing and hitting them, resulting in injuries to the policewomen.

Subsequently, a case was registered against the accused woman under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. A notice has been served to her, mandating her appearance before the police for questioning whenever required. The incident highlights the challenges faced by law enforcement officers in the line of duty, even during emergencies.
