Pune: Confidence in Shiv Sena’s Stronghold: Sanjog Waghere Expects Victory in Maval Lok Sabha Constituency

Maval, 7th March 2024: Despite the undecided seat distribution formula within the Mahavikas Aghadi, Sanjog Waghere swiftly launched his campaign in Maval after Uddhav Thackeray announced his candidature during a visit to Raigad. Waghere exuded confidence in securing victory and commenced active campaigning. The Lok Sabha elections’ code of conduct is anticipated to be enacted next week, prompting political parties to gear up.

Uddhav Thackeray, leading the Shiv Sena’s Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction, toured three state assembly constituencies in Raigad district, declaring Waghere’s candidature and expressing optimism about securing record votes. Waghere wasted no time in initiating his campaign, with a focus on citizen interactions in Pimpri-Chinchwad. Notably, he appears to be receiving support from NCP office-bearers affiliated with Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

Waghere, confident in Shiv Sena’s stronghold in the Maval Lok Sabha constituency, believes he will be elected as an MP for Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray’s party. He anticipates that the latent anti-BJP sentiment, especially if the opposition contests under the lotus symbol, will work in his favour, with voters rallying behind the Mashal (torch) logo.

While the Mahavikas Aghadi has taken a proactive stance by selecting its candidate, tension lingers within the Mahayuti. The candidature of Shiv Sena MP Shrirang Barne, endorsed by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, faces opposition from Maval MLA Sunil Shelke, a supporter of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Simultaneously, the BJP is adamant about fielding its candidate, leading to ongoing discussions and uncertainty regarding the Mahayuti candidate.
