Pune Commuters Face Disruption for the Second Day as Cab Drivers Continue Strike for Fare Hike

Pune, 7th February 2024: On Wednesday (6th), the ongoing suspension of transportation services initiated by cab drivers in Pune city, demanding a fare hike, was observed to have a significant impact on regular commuters.

The “Baghtoy Rickshawala” and “Motor, Taxi Transport Association” organizations have jointly called for a strike among cab drivers, urging Ola and Uber to raise fares. As a result, citywide cab services have been disrupted for the past two days.

The consequences of this strike have been felt by passengers, causing inconvenience at key locations such as Pune Airport, Pune Railway Station, Swargate ST Stand, Hospitals, Colleges, as well as Government and Private Offices on Wednesday (6th March).

In response to the situation, Uber has explicitly stated that there will be no adjustment in cab fares, citing concerns that any increase would impose a 60% additional cost on passengers. Regional Transport Officer Sanjeev Bhor mentioned ongoing efforts to find a resolution to this issue.
