Pune: Mahayuti Faces Turmoil in Maval as NCP Demands Lok Sabha Seat

Pimpri Chinchwad, 12th March 2024: Tensions are emerging within the Mahayuti alliance in the Maval Lok Sabha constituency, just as the implementation of the code of conduct for the upcoming elections looms. The NCP city unit in Pimpri Chinchwad has formally urged Party President and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar to allocate the Maval Lok Sabha constituency to the NCP and endorse former corporator Bhausaheb Bhoir as the candidate. This information was shared by NCP city president Ajit Gavhane.

Within Pimpri, Anna Bansode, and in Maval, Sunil Shelke serves as NCP MLA. In the recent Chinchwad Assembly by-election, NCP candidate Nana Kate garnered nearly one lakh votes, showcasing the party’s significant strength in this region of Maval. Given these factors, the NCP is demanding that the Maval Lok Sabha seat be allocated to their party, with the nomination of the experienced and active politician Bhausaheb Bhoir.

Bhoir, a political figure for the past three decades, has been elected as a corporator five consecutive times and has made notable contributions to the cultural realm, enhancing the city’s cultural standing. The NCP argues that considering Bhoir’s extensive political career, strong party support, and connections in Maval, Uran, Karjat, and Panvel constituencies, he is an ideal candidate. Gavhane expressed confidence that Bhoir if nominated, would not only be well-received by the public but also emerge victorious. The city executive has formally conveyed their request to NCP leadership, emphasizing their desire for the Maval Lok Sabha seat to be given to the NCP, with Bhoir as the chosen candidate. Bhoir has confirmed his readiness to contest the election.
