Pune: PCMC Reviews Pending Power Projects With MSEDCL, Directs Time-Bound Clearances
Pimpri Chinchwad, 21st July 2026: In a bid to ensure uninterrupted, quality and safe power supply to residents and expedite electricity-related works pending with the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), a high-level review meeting was held between Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) officials and senior MSEDCL officers.
The meeting was chaired by Mayor Ravi Landge and Municipal Commissioner Dr Vijay Suryawanshi. Discussions focused on ensuring timely electricity connections for the civic body’s water supply and sewage treatment infrastructure, while resolving long-pending issues affecting development projects.
Among the key issues reviewed were recurring power outages in the Ravet area, pending electricity connections for water treatment plants (WTPs), sewage treatment plants (STPs), jackwells and pump houses, installation of transformers, distribution panels (DPs), feeder pillars, ring main units (RMUs) and electricity meters. Officials also discussed delays in technical approvals and cost estimates, double-run cables, PD meters, electricity billing complaints, coordination during road excavation works and other pending proposals.
The civic administration directed MSEDCL to provide technical approvals and sanction estimates within stipulated timelines to prevent delays in municipal infrastructure projects. It also instructed the utility to complete new electricity connections and transformer installations within fixed deadlines and ensure uninterrupted power supply to water supply and sewage treatment facilities under all circumstances.
Officials were further instructed to resolve citizens’ complaints related to electricity supply, metering and billing on priority. MSEDCL was also asked to coordinate with the municipal corporation before undertaking road excavation works and ensure roads are restored promptly after completion of utility work. Authorities stressed the need for better planning to prevent recurrence of such issues.
Mayor Ravi Landge said providing every citizen with reliable and uninterrupted electricity supply remains the civic body’s top priority and directed MSEDCL to respond more responsibly and promptly to public complaints.
Municipal Commissioner Dr Vijay Suryawanshi emphasised the need to complete all electricity-related approvals, new power connections and technical processes on time to accelerate the implementation of the corporation’s development projects.
Officials from both PCMC and MSEDCL expressed confidence that all pending works would be completed within the stipulated timelines. They also said coordination between the civic body and the power utility would be further strengthened to ensure reliable electricity services for residents.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Mayor Sharmila Babar, Standing Committee Chairperson Abhishek Barne, Leader of the House Prashant Shitole, Leader of Opposition Bhausaheb Bhoir, Additional Municipal Commissioners Trupti Sandbhor and Vikrant Bagade, MSEDCL Chief Engineer Sunil Kakade, Superintending Engineer Sinhajirao Gaikwad, Executive Engineers Somnath Munde and Lahanu Vishwanath, along with other officials from both organisations.
