Second Fire Incident Hit Mumbai’s Goregaon Area: Diesel Godown Ablazed in Asmi Industrial Complex

Mumbai, 25th January 2024: A second fire incident unfolded yesterday in Mumbai’s Goregaon area, this time at a diesel godown situated in the Asmi Industrial Complex of Ram Mandir. The establishment was categorized as a ‘Level 3’ fire, primarily due to multiple cylinder blasts within the godown, which was utilized for storing diesel and various scrap materials.

The incident prompted the closure of Mrunaltai Bridge to traffic as a precautionary measure to ensure public safety. The diesel godown fire followed an earlier incident yesterday at a high-rise building in Mahesh Nagar’s Govindji Shroff Marg, specifically at Anmol Pride.

The ‘Level 3’ classification indicated a high-intensity fire with the potential for rapid escalation. The presence of cylinder blasts within the godown added complexity to the firefighting efforts, posing challenges to the authorities involved in controlling the blaze.

Firefighters were swiftly dispatched to both scenes, where eight fire tenders controlled the fire. The emergency response teams worked diligently to contain the flames and prevent further spread to neighbouring areas.

The closure of Mrunaltai Bridge led to traffic disruptions in the vicinity, with authorities redirecting vehicles to ensure the safety of commuters and residents.

As of the latest update, no casualties were reported in connection with the diesel godown fire.
