Skoda Auto India to Introduce New Compact SUV for Domestic Market
New Delhi, 26th February 2024: Skoda Auto India has announced its upcoming offering for the domestic market, which will be a compact SUV. This new model will be developed specifically for India and is expected to enter the market within a year.
The new compact SUV will be positioned below the Kushaq and Slavia models, representing the brand’s latest modern and ‘Made in India’ car. Based on the MQB A0 IN platform, this new offering aims to further enhance the brand’s presence in the Indian market. The company is also preparing a local supplier base, which can assist in pricing its products more competitively.
The launch is expected within the first 6 months of the next year. The production capacity for the new compact SUV will be increased by 30%, emphasizing its production, design, and manufacturing within India. Skoda Auto India aims to sell 100,000 units of the new SUV within a year, doubling the achievements of the Kushaq and Slavia models within two years.
Furthermore, there is speculation that Volkswagen might also introduce a new version of the sub-compact SUV in a few years. However, no official launch date has been disclosed yet.
