Students From Central Schools Appearing For Board Exams To Be Given Grades Instead Of Marks In Marathi Paper

Mumbai, 8th February 2023: Recently, School Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar announced that Central Board students appearing for Class 10 board exams will be given the facility of grades instead of marks.

This comes as a relief for the students of central schools who are facing difficulties due to the compulsory Marathi paper across Maharashtra.

The step is being taken so that their results are not affected due to the new Marathi syllabus. Minister Kesarkar said there is a possibility that the students who have not studied Marathi in class VII, VIII, or IX may get fewer marks in this paper.

The government is aware that the result of such students may deteriorate because of this. So in this year’s 10th examination, they will be given ‘A-B-C’ grades instead of marks, so that it becomes easy for them to pass and their percentage does not decrease due to low marks in Marathi.

The School Education Minister said that the Marathi syllabus prepared by the central boards is of the same standard. The education department of the state cannot advise the central boards to change or simplify it. Therefore, to give relief to the students who are studying Marathi for the first time in class VII, VIII, or IX for the next two-three years, there is an intention to give grades instead of marks.
