Thane: Businessman and Key Witness Shot Dead in Mira Road

Thane, 4th January 2025: A businessman and crucial witness in a criminal case was shot dead on Friday night in Mira Road, a suburb near Mumbai, in Thane district, Maharashtra. The incident occurred at Shanti Shopping Centre, where 35-year-old Mohammad Tabrez Ansari, also known as Shams Tabrez Ansari or Sonu, was killed.

Police reported that the assailant entered the shopping centre around 10 pm, shot Ansari in the head at close range, and fled the scene.

Ansari, who had been involved in a criminal case, had been receiving threats before the incident. He had reportedly complained to the authorities about these threats.

Following the shooting, the Naya Nagar police station personnel sealed off the area and began gathering evidence, including CCTV footage, to identify the perpetrator.

The body of Ansari has been sent for postmortem, and an investigation has been launched by the police.
