Thane District Must Be Free of Potholes and Traffic Jams Before June; Chief Minister Eknath Shinde Orders Officials

Thane, 24th April 2023: In a meeting on Saturday, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde instructed officials to complete the repair and renovation works of roads in Thane district before 1st June, and to eliminate potholes and traffic congestion from the district.

The officials of the concerned department will be responsible for ensuring that there are no potholes on the roads. The Chief Minister warned that strict action will be taken against officials and contractors if they show any neglect or laxity in their work.

The Public Works Department and State Road Development Corporation are currently undertaking repair work on the Mumbra Bypass Road, Saket Khadi Bridge, and Kharegaon Khadi Bridge on Mumbai Nashik Highway in Thane district.

However, the simultaneous work is causing transport disruptions. Traffic jams are a major problem in Thane, Navi Mumbai, and Bhiwandi cities every day and night. In light of this, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde held an urgent meeting of officials at his residence in Thane on Saturday.

Thane Collector Ashok Shingare, Police Commissioner Jayjit Singh, Thane Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar, Road Development Corporation Joint Managing Director Anil Kumar Gaikwad, Additional Police Commissioner Dattatray Karale, and other officers were present in the meeting.
