Thane: MMRDA Accelerates Kalyan to Taloja Metro Line 12 Construction

Thane, 10th May 2024: The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is fast-tracking the construction of the Kalyan to Taloja Metro Line 12, a vital project with a budget of Rs. 5865 crores. Led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, the groundbreaking ceremony marked the commencement of construction for this 22 km route, which will encompass 19 stations and serve around two and a half lakh passengers, alleviating congestion on local trains.

In Kalyan, excavation work has already commenced near the APMC market, with additional activities underway in Dombivli to erect Metro pillars. The project kickstarted recently in Dombivli, gained momentum following the ceremony conducted by Chief Minister Shinde in February.

Initial efforts concentrated on Dombivli, but have since expanded to encompass various locations, including the APMC market road in Kalyan. Once operational, this metro line will significantly ease commuting for thousands of passengers, thereby reducing crowding on local trains between Kalyan and Thane.
