Thane: Multiple Injuries in Mumbai-Nashik Expressway Crash; 15 Hurt in Multi-Vehicle Accident

Thane, 15th July 2024: At least 15 individuals sustained injuries in a multi-vehicle accident on the Mumbai-Nashik Expressway near Thane.

This incident occurred shortly after another tragic accident in Byadagi Taluk, Haveri district, Karnataka, where 13 people lost their lives and four others were injured around 3:45 am. The collision involved a van carrying 17 passengers colliding with a stationary lorry on National Highway 48 (Pune-Bengaluru Highway).

Of the 17 passengers in the van, 11 died at the scene, and two more succumbed to their injuries after being transported to a nearby hospital.

Anshu Kumar Srivastava, Superintendent of Police for Haveri, provided details, stating that the victims were returning from Chincholi Mayamma Devasthana and were headed to their native Yemehatti village in Shivamogga district. The tragic collision occurred when the van, travelling at high speed, struck the stationary lorry parked on the highway shoulder.
