Thane Police Bust Prostitution Ring, Rescue Woman from Ulhasnagar Lodge

Thane, 18th June 2024: Police in Thane district, Maharashtra, have uncovered a prostitution ring operating at a lodge and apprehended two individuals in connection with the case, according to an official statement on Monday.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team conducted a raid at a lodge located in Ulhasnagar township on Saturday. During the operation, they rescued a woman from the premises, reported a spokesperson from the Central police station.
The lodge manager and a waiter were arrested during the raid, while efforts are underway to locate the owner of the establishment, the official confirmed.
A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against the three suspects under Indian Penal Code sections 370 (related to trafficking of persons) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of a common intention), along with relevant provisions of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.
The woman rescued from the lodge has been relocated to a rescue home, police sources added.
