Thane: Road Rage Incident In Vashi: Car Driver Threatens NMMT Bus Driver With Sword

Vashi, 6th September 2023: A shocking incident unfolded in Vashi on Monday when a car driver threatened the bus driver of Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) with a brandishing sword in his hand. The incident occurred on the Uran-Koparkhairane route around 4:00 PM and went quickly viral on social media, with netizens calling for stricter action against the car driver.
The driver of NMMT bus number 31, Suryakant Suryavanshi, aged 29, was on his usual route from Uran to Koparkhairane when the unexpected event took place. As the bus reached Vashi Sector-10, a group of pedestrians suddenly crossed the road, prompting Suryavanshi to apply the brakes abruptly to avoid a collision.
However, the sudden stop resulted in a car from behind slamming into the bus. The car sustained significant damage in the collision. The driver of the car, identified as 40-year-old Sunny Lamba, reacted in an alarming and dangerous manner. Lamba angrily retrieved a sword from his car and threatened the bus driver by brandishing it menacingly in the air.
In a fit of rage, Lamba proceeded to verbally abuse Suryavanshi and even used the sword to strike the bus driver’s door, menacingly threatening him. The terrifying incident unfolded during the evening rush hour, leaving witnesses and passengers on the bus in a state of shock.
Swift action was taken by the authorities in response to this harrowing incident. The Vashi police promptly registered a case against the main suspect, Sunny Lamba, who was subsequently detained. The video capturing the shocking incident, which took place during a rush hour in the evening on the road, quickly went viral on social media platforms, further intensifying the public’s outrage.
