Thane: School Bus Attendant Arrested for Molesting Students: Parents Demand Action Against Negligent Teachers

Crime

Thane, 22nd February 2024: A 27-year-old bus attendant from a third-party tour company has been arrested by the Kapurbawadi police for allegedly molesting six girls and two boys, all Class II students of a reputed school in Thane. The incident occurred on the school bus during the return from an excursion to Kidzania in Ghatkopar. The parents filed a complaint, stating that the accused made the children sit on his lap and touched their private parts while distributing snacks.

Despite the upset parents approaching the school authorities immediately, no action was taken until 10 pm. Frustrated by the school’s inaction and discovering that the abuse involved eight children, the parents complained to the police in the early hours of Wednesday. The accused has been arrested, but parents demand that the negligence of three teachers present on the bus be added to the FIR.

Parents claim the school failed to inform them about the involvement of a third-party tour company. Allegations include the bus attendant asking a girl to kiss him for water and instructing children to utter a cuss word before using the washroom. The parents gathered at the school to question the authorities, revealing that the school terminated the services of three teachers supervising the trip and pledged not to engage the third-party company for future trips.

The school, in a statement, condemned the incident and assured cooperation with the police. The principal stated that they had been using the Adventure Tours and Travels company for years without any previous issues, emphasizing their commitment to child safety.
