Thane: Thief Who Stole Gold Valuables From Badlapur Railway Station Arrested From Dombivli

Dombivli, 20th February 2023: A thief who absconded after stealing gold worth Rs 1.46 lakh from a passenger’s bag at Badlapur railway station was arrested by the Kalyan railway crime branch team from Dombivli. The police seized the stolen goods from him. The thief has been identified as Anil Sridhar Masavkar (51), a resident of Badlapur.

A passenger was waiting for a local at Badlapur railway station during the night last week. He fell asleep on the bench due to exhaustion from work. The passenger had a bag with him. The bag contained a gold chain, mobile phone, ring, and Rs 29,000. The accused saw that the passenger was fast asleep and slowly took the bag near him to the side and ran out with the gold valuables.

When the passenger woke up, he found nothing in the bag. He lodged a complaint at Kalyan Lohmarg Police Station. Under the guidance of Senior Inspector Arshuddin Shaikh of the Welfare Crime Branch, a team of Sub-Inspector Prakash Chaugule, Constables Rajendra Divte, Janardan Pulekar, Ranjit Raskar, Ravindra Darekar, Vaibhav Jadhav, Smita Vasave, Mahendra Kardile, Ravindra Thakur, Sonali Patil, Ajit Mane, Azim Inamdar, Sunil Magade, Akshay Chavan, and Gorakh Suravse examined the CCTV footage of the railway station area from Badlapur to Dombivli. They found that the accused was in the area from the technical information. The team arrested the accused from the place where he was hiding. The stolen property has been confiscated from him. Police Commissioner Dr Ravindra Shisve, Deputy Commissioner Manoj Patil, and Assistant Commissioner Sachin Kadam guided the team.
