Thane to Host Three-Day Convention on Pet-Related Disturbances Starting December 26

Thane, 28th December 2024: A three-day convention addressing pet-related disturbances, particularly issues with dogs, will be held in Thane district, Maharashtra, starting Friday, December 26.

Approximately 2,500 housing societies from Thane have registered for the event, “Maha Adiveshan,” which is expected to draw around 25,000 attendees, according to Thane District Co-operative Housing Federation Ltd president Sitaram Rane, who spoke at a press conference on Thursday.

The presence of pets, particularly dogs, has caused increasing tensions and conflicts within residential complexes, creating law and order challenges. Rane highlighted the difficulty in resolving these issues due to interference from animal welfare organizations.

He voiced particular concern over the safety of children, citing instances where dog bites have resulted in serious injuries and even fatalities. Rane emphasized the need for stricter pet regulations and urged that such rules be incorporated into cooperative society guidelines to ensure proper enforcement.
