Thane: Young Man Rescued By Kalyan Police After Attempted Suicide Near Valdhuni River
Kalyan-Dombivli City, 20th July 2023: A rescue operation by the local police in Kalyan has saved the life of a 20-year-old man who attempted to end his life by jumping into the Valdhuni River yesterday. The incident occurred near the Valdhuni Zakat Canal in the Kalyan West area.
The young man, identified as Aftab Naushad Ansari, is a resident of Ashoknagar Masjid, near Waldhuni, Kalyan East. Yesterday afternoon, at around 2 p.m., he was spotted jumping into the river bed from the bridge by local residents. Immediately, the Senior Police Inspector of Mahatma Phule Chowk Police Station, Ashok Honmane, rushed to the scene accompanied by his team to launch a rescue operation.
After two hours of arduous rescue operation, a young man was brought to safety. Although the reasons behind his drastic decision are still unknown, Inspector Ashok Honmane stated that Aftab was found to be in good health upon rescue.
Following the successful rescue, the young man was taken into police custody and provided with counselling to understand the underlying reasons behind his act. After ensuring his mental and emotional well-being, the police will hand him over to his relatives.
