Twelve Arrested For Attacking GRP Contables At Hotel In Navi Mumbai
Navi Mumbai, 29th November 2022: Two people were detained by KoparKhairane police, and another 10 were sent to jail after two GRP constables were allegedly beaten last week at the Kwality Punjab Hotel, the Free Press Journal reported.
Deepak Kolhe (41), a GRP constable, and his companion were reportedly dining late on Thursday night at the Sector 14 Kwality Punjab Hotel. Two others were drinking alcohol at nearby tables at the same time.
On the opposite table, two young people were arguing with each other while consuming beer. The two GRP constables were attacked by a gang of roughly 12 persons. Beer bottles, chairs, and tables were hurled.
The Free Press Journal further reported that the Koparkhairane police later detained two people and jailed another ten while. Some of the attackers are reportedly known criminals, according to the police.
The authorities are also looking into the hotel’s methods for serving and consuming alcohol, as well as whether they were authorised to do so or not.
