Union Minister Narayan Rane’s Son Gets Interim Protection From Arrest In Disha Salian Defamation Case
Mumbai, 4 March 2022: A Mumbai court has granted relief from arrest to BJP leader and Union Minister Narayan Rane and MLA son Nitesh Rane till March 10 in Disha Salian defamation case.
Disha Salia was the former manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Central and his MLA son are accused of making defamatory and misleading statements about Disha Salian.
Fearing arrest in the case, the father-son had filed anticipatory bail through their lawyer Satish Maneshinde before the Dindoshi sessions court in suburban Malad.
As soon as the matter came up for hearing, Special Public Prosecutor Pradeep Gharat sought time to file his reply. The court asked the police not to arrest them till the next date of hearing. Thereafter, the hearing of the matter was adjourned till March 10.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Police is likely to record Rane’s statement in the matter on Saturday. The police have issued a notice against the Union Minister and his son under Section 41A of CrPC asking them to appear for recording their statement.
According to the FIR lodged by the suburban Malwani police, “the Union minister made the remarks while talking to a media on February 19, during which his son was also present. During the press conference, the minister made some claims about Salian’s death.”
The FIR was registered based on the complaint of Disha’s mother Vasanti Salian. Vasanti had first approached the Maharashtra State Commission for Women (MSWC), seeking action against Narayan Rane, Nitesh Rane, and others for defaming the Salian family on various media platforms.
Disha Salian allegedly committed suicide by jumping off a building in Malad on June 8, 2020, six days before Sushant’s Rajput’s death.
