Uttar Pradesh Man Dies by Suicide in Thane After Alleged Blackmail by Married Woman

Thane, 5th March 2025: A man from Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao district, identified as Altaf, took his own life in Thane after allegedly being blackmailed by a married woman with whom he had an affair. Before his death, he recorded a series of distressing videos, in which he is seen slitting his wrists, attempting to hang himself, and consuming poison. His family has accused the police in both Thane and Unnao of refusing to take responsibility, citing jurisdictional limitations.

According to reports, Altaf worked as a tailor in Thane but returned home last year after his mother passed away. His family encouraged him to stay and work in Unnao, where he became involved with a married woman from his neighborhood. When his family learned of the relationship, they reprimanded him and insisted he return to Thane.

Despite the separation, the woman allegedly continued to harass him. His sister, Reshma, claimed that the woman later claimed to be pregnant and began extorting money from him, demanding sums ranging from ₹10,000 to ₹1 lakh. She reportedly threatened to falsely implicate him in legal trouble, pushing him into emotional distress.

Before ending his life, Altaf made a video call to the woman, expressing his suffering. According to Reshma, the woman responded indifferently, stating that she had her husband and wouldn’t be affected by his death.

Four days later, Maharashtra Police informed Altaf’s family of his passing. They traveled to Thane and buried him, only later uncovering the extent of the alleged harassment. When they sought help from the Maharashtra Police, they were told to approach the Unnao police, who then redirected them back to Thane. Despite managing to bring the woman to the police station, the family claimed they received no assistance.

In his recorded messages, Altaf is heard saying, “I have lived long enough. No more.” One video shows his bloodied hand holding a blade, while another captures him consuming rat poison, stating, “If something happens, let my family know.” Moments later, his mouth begins to foam.
