3-Year-Old Dies After Cobra Bite in Ambernath; Family Alleges Delay in Medical Treatment
Thane, 6 th June 2025 : A three-year-old boy died after being bitten by a cobra in Ambernath, triggering protests by his family members, who alleged that a delay in treatment at a government hospital contributed to the tragedy.
According to officials, the incident occurred in the Shivsanganga area of Ambernath, where the child was reportedly bitten by a cobra. Family members immediately rushed him to the Central Government Hospital in Ulhasnagar for emergency treatment.
Despite medical intervention, the child succumbed during treatment, leaving the family devastated. Following the death, relatives gathered at the hospital and accused medical staff of failing to provide timely treatment, alleging that the delay cost the child his life. The situation briefly turned tense as agitated family members demanded accountability from hospital authorities.
In an unusual development, family members also brought the snake believed to have bitten the child to the hospital, reportedly to confirm the nature of the bite and assist doctors in treatment.
Responding to the allegations, Hospital Superintendent Dr. Bansode stated that the child was in a critical condition when he was brought to the facility. He said doctors made every possible effort to save the boy, but the severity of his condition proved fatal.
The incident has raised concerns about emergency response and treatment protocols in snakebite cases. Authorities are expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the case, while hospital officials maintain that all necessary medical efforts were undertaken.
