Mumbai: Seven AC Harbour Line Trains Cancelled After Technical Fault

Mumbai, 21th July 2026 : Thousands of commuters on Mumbai’s Harbour Line faced inconvenience after seven AC local train services were cancelled due to a technical fault in one of the AC train rakes. To minimise disruption, Central Railway operated non-AC local trains in place of the cancelled AC services, requiring passengers to travel in regular coaches.

According to railway officials, a technical defect was detected in one unit of an AC rake, following which the train was immediately withdrawn from service and sent to the maintenance shed for repairs. As no standby AC rake was available, seven scheduled AC local services had to be cancelled.

The affected services included trains departing from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) to Panvel at 3:36 pm, 6:33 pm, and 9:30 pm, Panvel to CSMT services at 5:07 pm, 8:07 pm, and 10:58 pm, and the 12:24 am CSMT–Vashi service. All these services were replaced with non-AC local trains operating on the same schedule.

The disruption caused inconvenience to regular AC local commuters, particularly during peak hours. Despite holding valid AC tickets or passes, passengers had to travel in non-AC coaches, prompting several commuters to express dissatisfaction over the unexpected change in service.

Central Railway said repair work on the affected AC rake is in progress. The AC local services will resume once the repairs are completed and the rake is certified fit for operation.
