Pune: Illegal Billboard Razed in Tathawade as PCMC Steps up drive
Pimpri Chinchwad, 21st July 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has intensified its drive against unauthorised advertising hoardings across the city, removing an illegally erected 40×30-foot billboard in Tathawade on Tuesday.
During the drive, officials found that M/s Advik Advertising had erected an unauthorised 40×30-foot hoarding near Marigold Hospital in Jeevan Nagar, Tathawade. Acting under the guidance of deputy commissioner (Licence) Rajesh Agale, licence inspector Vinod Sarkania led the operation to remove the billboard, including its iron structure, on July 21.
The officials from the civic body’s Sky Sign and Licence Department said that prior permission from the municipal corporation is mandatory before installing advertisement hoardings on private land under Sections 244 and 245 of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act and the Maharashtra Government’s Advertisement Regulation and Control Rules notified on May 9, 2022.
The civic administration said Pimpri Chinchwad, known as one of the country’s major industrial cities and progressing towards becoming a Smart City, must preserve its urban aesthetics. It noted that unauthorised hoardings not only spoil the city’s appearance but also result in revenue losses to the municipal corporation.
PCMC has appealed to all advertising agencies operating within its jurisdiction not to erect unauthorised hoardings in the future. The civic body warned that any such illegal structures found in the city will be removed immediately as part of its enforcement drive.
Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Agale urged advertisers to strictly comply with the prescribed permission process before installing any advertisement hoardings within the municipal limits.
