Pune: Pedestrian Dies After Dumper Knocks Him Down Outside PMC Headquarters, Driver Booked

Pune, 22nd July 2026: A 40-year-old man was killed after being run over by a dumper truck outside the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) headquarters on Tuesday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Suresh Tokre (40), a resident of Warje Malwadi. Police said his identity was established through documents found on him.

According to police, the accident occurred around 8.30 am when Tokre was crossing the road outside the PMC building. A dumper truck allegedly hit him, leaving him critically injured. He died before he could receive medical treatment.

The dumper driver fled the spot immediately after the accident. Shivajinagar police have registered an FIR against the unidentified driver and launched a search to trace and arrest him.

Police said the dumper involved in the accident has been seized and further investigation is underway to identify the driver and ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the crash.
