SRPF Group 1 Launches Mega Tree Plantation Drive in Pune, 6,610 Saplings to Be Planted
Wanowrie, 22nd July 2026: In a major initiative aimed at promoting environmental conservation and creating a greener campus, the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) Group No. 1 at Wanowrie, Pune, has launched a large-scale tree plantation drive in collaboration with Bajaj and Kolte-Patil Private Limited.
Under the initiative, a total of 6,610 saplings will be planted across the SRPF Group 1 premises. Bajaj has committed to planting 3,010 saplings, while Kolte-Patil Private Limited will plant 3,600 saplings. At present, 3,800 saplings have already been made available at the site, and the plantation work has commenced.
The programme was inaugurated in the presence of Vijaykumar Gopinath Magar (IPS), Deputy Inspector General of Police, Pune Range. Other dignitaries present included Ravindrasingh Pardeshi (IPS), Commandant, SRPF Group 1, Pune; Swapna Gore, Commandant, SRPF Group 2, Pune; and Dr Shantanu Jagdale, former member of the Tree Authority of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).
Representing Bajaj were Mahesh Kunkulol, Ganesh Zhende, Abhijit Kalbhor, and Shafi Mokashi, while Vinayak Jogdev and Jafar Patel represented Kolte-Patil Private Limited.
Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries highlighted the importance of tree plantation in protecting the environment and stressed the need for similar initiatives to enhance green cover. They also emphasised that planting trees alone is not enough and that their long-term care and maintenance are equally essential to ensure their survival.
The initiative is expected to significantly enhance the greenery within the SRPF Group 1 campus while contributing to broader environmental conservation efforts in Pune.
