PM Modi, Sharad Pawar Hold Key Meeting Amid Parliament Protests

New Delhi, 22nd July 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar and Baramati MP Supriya Sule in Parliament on Wednesday, as the Monsoon Session continued to witness repeated disruptions over the NEET paper leak issue and protests in the national capital. The meeting has drawn political attention as it came a day after Pawar visited protesters at Jantar Mantar and amid ongoing opposition demonstrations inside and outside Parliament.

According to the NCP (SP), Pawar used the meeting to convey the concerns and demands raised by protesters during his visit to Jantar Mantar. Party leaders said the discussion focused on issues raised by students and demonstrators, though no official details of the conversation were released by the Prime Minister’s Office.

The meeting also took place against the backdrop of a political standoff in Parliament, with opposition parties demanding a discussion on the NEET paper leak and seeking the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The government has maintained that it is ready to debate the issue in Parliament after consultations on the format and duration of the discussion.

The timing of the meeting has triggered political speculation, particularly as it follows Pawar’s participation in the protest and comes amid heightened tensions during the Monsoon Session. While some reports suggested the meeting could fuel speculation over broader political developments, neither the BJP nor the NCP (SP) has indicated any political significance beyond the issues discussed.
