FDA Suspends Licences of 12 Food Establishments Across Pune Division; Rs 3.48 Lakh Worth of Food Seized

Pune, 22nd July 2026: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has suspended the licences of 12 hotels, restaurants and bakeries across the Pune division after detecting serious food safety violations, including unhygienic conditions and the storage of expired food products.

The enforcement drives, carried out on July 18 and July 21, covered Pune city, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Maval, Junnar, Khed and Satara district. During the inspections, the FDA seized food stock worth ₹3.48 lakh and arrested five individuals for alleged violations.

According to the FDA, the inspections uncovered multiple breaches of the Food Safety and Standards Act, leading to the immediate suspension of licences and the initiation of legal action against the establishments.

Separate raids were also conducted in Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pandharpur and Vaduj, where criminal cases have been registered against the operators concerned.

The FDA has instructed all food business operators to strictly adhere to food safety regulations. These include providing customers with free and safe drinking water, using only food-grade packaging materials, avoiding the reuse of cooking oil, and ensuring that menu cards do not contain misleading information.
