Mumbai: 14-Year-Old Girl Allegedly Sexually Assaulted in Nalasopara; Two Minors Detained

Nalasopara, 18th August 2026: A shocking case involving the alleged sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl has come to light in Nalasopara East. According to police, the girl was allegedly assaulted by two minor boys after one of them, whom she had met through social media, called her to meet him. Both suspects have been detained by Tulinj police.

According to the police, the victim had become acquainted with a 17-year-old boy through social media. On July 11, he allegedly called her to meet him, claiming that he had some important work. When she went to meet him, he allegedly took her to a locked room in a building in the area, where another 17-year-old boy was present.

The two boys allegedly sexually assaulted the girl and recorded the incident on a mobile phone. They allegedly threatened her with serious consequences if she disclosed the incident to anyone and also threatened to circulate the video on social media.

Due to the threats, the girl reportedly remained silent for several weeks. However, after the alleged video was circulated on social media on August 15, she informed her family about the incident. Her family subsequently approached Tulinj Police Station and filed a complaint.

Following the complaint, police registered a case against the two minors under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Information Technology Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Police have detained both minors and are expected to produce them before the Juvenile Justice Board in Bhiwandi. Police Inspector Amar Marathe confirmed the action and said further investigation is underway.

The incident has once again raised concerns over the safety of minors on social media and the growing need for greater awareness and protection of children from online exploitation and abuse.
