Pune: Chandrakant Patil Advocates Unanimous Support for Modi’s Third Term in Mahayuti Meeting

Pune, 4th March 2024: Minister of Higher and Technical Education of Maharashtra and BJP Leader Chandrakant Patil expressed the perspective that despite existing differences, issues can be resolved through dialogue. He emphasized the unanimous agreement within the group to support Narendra Modi for a third term as Prime Minister.
Patil drew an analogy, likening the political scenario to a grand family reunion during a significant wedding, where separated families come together temporarily, only to disperse again. However, he acknowledged the collective effort to unite for the larger purpose of the Lok Sabha elections, where over 400 Members of Parliament are to be elected.
A meeting of the chief office-bearers aimed at coordinating activities within Mahayuti was conducted for the three Lok Sabha constituencies of Pune, Baramati, and Shirur. Patil addressed the media in a subsequent press conference, stating that the gathering was part of the initiation of the Lok Sabha election campaign. He encouraged open communication within the political family, emphasizing that dissenting voices have the freedom to express their opinions.
In today’s meeting, there was no discussion about the candidate. The focus was on the aftermath of the central government’s decision to revoke Article 370. Prime Minister Modi urged for securing more than 370 votes in each booth, a matter that was deliberated upon. All members of the Mahayuti alliance were invited to attend the meeting, and to ensure effective communication, a WhatsApp group has been established.
A significant development in legislative matters involves the inclusion of the term “Sagesoyare” in the Act, aiming to provide reservation to the Maratha community within the OBC category. The government has officially notified this change, resulting in approximately six and a half lakh objections. Each objection will undergo a thorough hearing, involving a substantial procedural process. In Vashi, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde formally handed over the documentation to Manoj Jarange Patil concerning the incorporation of the term “Sagesoyare” into the law.
It’s crucial to note that the reservation initiative remains intact, with the government having initiated a 10% reservation. Despite ongoing efforts to address concerns, there is a persistent attempt to tarnish the Mahayuti’s image through unwarranted criticism. Patil expressed frustration towards opposition leaders, emphasizing that their criticism stems from a realization that the Lok Sabha elections are slipping away from their grasp, accusing them of neglecting their responsibility to provide Maratha reservation.
